My First Custom horse-1

As you can see from my gallery, I LOVE my little ponies, but my other obsession is collecting model horses. Mainly Breyer's. I actually show my models at horse shows(kinda like a flower show, you put it on the table to have it judged and win ribbons). While I was getting ready for a live show one night, I went to check on a breed for a model, my breyer Porcelain Calliope was sitting on an end table where it had been all week, and then...*crash!* His leg got caught on a loose thread on my fiance's shorts and he went flying off the table Luckily his ear was only smashed into 7 tiny pieces and I was able to fix it but the model would never be show quality again. Luckily he felt so bad that he got me a brand new one right away, but I'd been wanting to try my hand at customizing so at least he volunteered my first victim for me, hehe.

This model has put me through hell, lol, but I've sure learned a lot! He's actually been done twice now from scratch because the stupid blue liquid mask I bought didn't cover all his brown when I went to spray the white on him, and the white got all over *i've learned that it's better to just pastel the whole horse in the base color first, then add white last with acrylics later*

His back hoof that's touching the ground is refusing to come out with even color so I'm still working on that. He'll never be perfect and probably not show quality(i'll try him out anyway but I'm not gonna hold my breath), but over all, I'm pretty happy with him! Especially for my first attempt! I totally love the ease of working with pastels since I can't afford an air brush too.
